230mm damascus chef's knife
A chefs knife forged from a billet of damascus steel consisting of W2 tool steel and 15n20. It features my own melted ladder pattern with 825 layers for the blade. It has a lovely profile similar to a French chef's knife or the Japanese smith Masamoto. A 48mm heel height makes chopping veggies and meat easy. It has a pronounced distal taper with the blade getting thinner towards the tip.
The handle is spalted and flamed maple burl with a ferrule of ebony and ladder pattern mokume gane (made up of copper, brass, and nickel silver), and is finished in a Japanese style 'D' shape that's comfortable in the hand.
The knife also comes with a wooden saya in the same spalted, flamed maple burl of the handle. The saya features a stainless steel damascus pin to keep the blade inside it if you need to travel with it.
This knife is carbon steel that can develop corrosion if not properly cared for. Please look at the Knife Care page for more information.
